WHAT KIND OF ITEMS CAN I SELL ON STAY CLOTHES?

It is only possible to sell a certain kind of item if it features in the categories provided on the website, such as clothing, bags, shoes, jewellery and accessories. It is in any case strictly forbidden to offer counterfeit products for sale. The items that are offered for sale also have to be clean and in perfect condition. Finally, the items cannot be old-fashioned.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON PUTTING CERTAIN ITEMS UP FOR SALE?

Yes, the bathing suits and the lingerie in the category « Clothing » have to be new with the original labels attached.

WHAT DOES THE SELLER NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING THEIR ITEMS?

HOW DO I DESCRIBE THE ITEMS THAT I WANT TO SELL?

Be as honest and complete as possible. If you don’t, it will be harder to sell these items and you run the risk of receiving a bad evaluation from other users on the site.

DO I HAVE TO USE A CERTAIN LANGUAGE TO DESCRIBE THE ITEMS?

No, the seller can simply write the description in their mother tongue but with a description in English or various languages the seller will of course reach a bigger public of potential buyers.

WHY DO ITEMS THAT WE OFFER FOR SALE NOT IMMEDIATELY APPEAR ONLINE?

Once we have received the description and the photos of the items, Stay Clothes will verify whether the quality of your photos is good enough before we trim them, place them on a white background and post them online. This verification usually requires two working days at the most, but this time can be extended for various reasons. In any case, Stay Clothes will do their best to inform the sellers concerned as quickly as possible if the waiting period is extended.

HOW CAN I SET THE PRICES FOR ITEMS THAT I WISH TO SELL?

Usually, the seller needs to set the price taking into account its original price and its current condition. However, once the price has been set, it is not possible to increase it. It can be lowered at any time. In addition, the price of the item can’t be below 15€ (excl. VAT).

WHAT DO I DO IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BUY AN ARTICLE?

If anyone wants to buy an item that is for sale, the seller will receive a notification with a comment or an e-mail. If Stay Clothes do not intervene in the sale, it is up to the seller and potential buyer to reach an agreement on the final price, the terms of payment and the delivery. If the seller offers the possibility of paying via Paypal, the buyer can immediately transfer the amount. The seller then has to send the buyer the item that was purchased. As soon as the item is sold, the seller needs to indicate this by posting “sold/vendu”.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ASK THE SELLER QUESTIONS ABOUT ONE OR SEVERAL OF THEIR ITEMS?

Yes, it is possible to ask the seller questions about their items, be it directly via a « wall », or via e-mail or even through the data published by the seller on their Stay Clothes account.

HOW LONG DOES AN ITEM STAY ONLINE FOR?

As of the moment the seller posts an item, they have 12 months to sell their item. The seller will receive an e-mail before the end of the period and will have the possibility to extend the online presence of their item. When the seller chooses not to extend the period, the item concerned will be removed from the site.

WHAT DOES “MAKE AN OFFER” MEAN?

When the seller decides to sell an item online, they can, regardless of the price they want to set, still choose to offer the potential buyer the option of making an offer. The seller is then free to accept or decline this offer.

HOW DO WE PROCEED WHEN AN OFFER HAS BEEN ACCEPTED?

Once the offer has been accepted, the seller has to deliver the item to the buyer in accordance with the terms of payment and delivery which they agreed to.

WHEN A SELLER CANNOT BE CONTACTED (HOLIDAY, SICK, …), CAN THEY SUSPEND THEIR ACCOUNT?

Yes, the seller can edit their own profile via their account and indicate that their account is temporarily suspended. However, the period of suspension cannot be longer than the period during which the items are online. Please note that this does not affect the validity of the membership.

CAN A BUYER BUY SEVERAL ITEMS THAT ARE UP FOR SALE?

Yes, but in that case the terms of payment and delivery could change, the shipping costs in particular.

WHEN DOES THE SELLER NEED TO SHIP A SOLD ITEM?

Although it is up to the seller and buyer to agree on the terms of delivery, Stay Clothes advise the sellers to not delay the shipment of the sold items and to send them within 48 hours time. If they don’t, they run the risk of getting a bad evaluation from other users on the site.

WHICH SHIPPING METHOD SHOULD I USE?

The shipping method will be selected based on the practical procedures the seller and buyer agree to.

WHAT DO I DO IF THE ORDER HAS BEEN CANCELLED BUT THE ITEM HAS ALREADY BEEN SENT?

If the order has been cancelled, Stay Clothes advise the seller to contact the buyer as soon as possible and request them to send the item(s) back. If the buyer refuses, the seller needs to take action against the buyer in accordance with the applicable law and if needed, initiate legal proceedings.

CAN I INSURE THE SHIPMENT OF THE ITEMS SENT?

This choice also entails certain practical procedures that the buyer and seller have to agree to.

If both parties have agreed to using the Paypal system, the amount of the purchased item(s) should be immediately transferred into the account of the seller. A bank transfer could however take a couple of days, especially if the money needs to come from a foreign account.

DO I HAVE TO PAY V.A.T.?

Because these are private sales of second hand items, the seller is not actually subject to VAT but this is not always the case in every country and every situation. However, if the item is sold by a professional retailer, VAT usually needs to be paid. Stay Clothes therefore advise everyone to consult the relevant tax authorities or get advice from a tax consultant.

HOW CAN I PAY THE PUBLICATION COSTS ONLINE?

These costs can be paid by subscribing to one of our memberships. However, these methods can change if so required.

If the buyer cancels their order after having paid and the item has not yet been sent, the seller has to refund the buyer. If the item has already been sent, the buyer has to return it to the seller as soon as possible while the seller refunds the amount they received.

We therefore advise the seller to take into account the possibility of a bad evaluation coming from other users on the site.

DO I HAVE TO PAY IMPORT TAXES?

If an item comes from abroad, import taxes might have to be paid. In that case, it’s generally the buyer who pays for them. For more information, we advise you to contact your local tax administration.
